Nomad Sauna was born in 2018 from a simple question: “Wouldn’t it be nice to bring this up to the cabin?”
What started as a passion project quickly grew into something more. We discovered that building a great sauna requires more than just good intentions—it demands premium materials, meticulous craftsmanship, and an obsession with getting every detail right.
Today, our team of 8 skilled builders crafts every Nomad sauna by hand in our Hudson, WI shop. We don’t sell kits. We don’t cut corners. We build saunas that are meant to last for decades and bring people together—whether that’s in a backyard, at a cabin, on the road, or floating on the water.
How We Build
Premium Materials, No Exceptions
Every sauna features 1.5” thick staves and 1/2” tempered glass overlooks. Our 8’, 10’, and 12’ units use 100% Clear Grade Western Red Cedar—renowned for its natural resistance to decay, insects, and moisture. Our larger 16’ and 20’ units feature sustainably sourced Redwood for strength and beauty at scale.
Authentic Yakisugi
Our authentic Yakisugi—finish is a traditional Japanese wood-charring technique that increases insulation, protects against insects and water, won't fade in the sun, and creates a stunning finish. This isn’t paint or imitation. It’s the real thing, applied by hand to every Yakisugi unit we build.
The Right Stove for the Job
We use a variety of premium stoves—including Iki, Homecraft, Torch, and more—because no single stove is right for every sauna. We select the best option based on your size, platform, and how you plan to use it.
Built In-House, Start to Finish
From the first cut of wood to final delivery, everything happens under our roof. We don’t outsource. We don’t assemble kits. Our team controls every step of the process—that’s how we guarantee quality.
